Puff Up

Ever watch birds? I do. I love birds. I have been a bird watcher for as long as I can remember. Yesterday, as I was driving, I caught out of the corner of my eye as I was rounding a corner, an owl in a tree. I was thrilled. He sat there so majestic surveying his territory most likely looking for something to eat.

It is cold and going to be even colder this weekend. Birds puff up trapping heat in their feathers to keep warm. Therefore, if you see a bird that looks fat, he may just be keeping warm by puffing up his feathers.

Birds puff up for other reasons as well. For more information about birds in the winter, check out http://smithsonianscience.si.edu/2015/01/keeping-warm-winter-birds.
