Dearie: The Remarkable Life of Julia Child By Bob Spitz

“A rollicking biography that captures the vision, pluck and contagious exuberance that were the essence of Julia Child.”
People Magazine

Dearie by Bob Spitz is truly one of the best biographies written about Julia Child.  This is not a typical biography.  Even if you have read other biographies of Julia Child, read Dearie.  It will engage and enlighten one to who Julia Child was as remarkable woman.

Book Review: Little Century

Little Century has many unique personalities, some of whom you might recognize — an endearing shop owner, the illustrious reverend, a cold-blooded villain everyone loves to hate, and the stubbornly independent schoolteacher and long-suffering horse who rides on.  To read a short synopsis of the story click here.  A book for the beach 2013. Truly an American treasure.

A Fun Thing To Do

Forsythia is a yellow flowering bush.  Early in the spring you can clip the branches and place them in a vase with water and watch them bloom. It takes about a week, depending how cold it has been.

Daylight Saving Time: A Time To Change

Plus answers to all of your Daylight Saving Time questions.
Daylight Saving Time is annoying; but the real issue is not the later hours or extra sunlight. Studies have shown that changing the clocks is responsible for health problems including an increase risk of heart attack, vehicular accidents, and hundreds of thousands of hours of lost productivity in workplaces across the country.

Below is information from the "We The People" web-site that contains a petition to get rid of DLT.  If you desire changing Daylight Saving Time click on the link below to sign the petition.

Eliminate the bi-annual time change caused by Daylight Savings Time
Daylight Savings Time is an archaic practice in our modern society.
The original reasons for the policies are no longer applicable, and the most cited reason for keeping DST (energy savings) has never been shown to be true.
Some industries still like DST (like sporting equipment retailers), but there are many more who dislike the changed hours (like television).
We should either eliminate DST or make it the year-round standard time for the whole country.

Right Now We'd Like to Roast The Groundhog

The groundhog was wrong this year.  We have had snow almost every day since his prediction, along with cold temperatures.  Hopefully Spring is just around the corner.
Better luck next year Phil, this year has been a bust.
