A Quotable Quote

When a man chooses to do the right thing; his woman is happy and blessed...otherwise we are all miserable.

Impeach Thomas W. Corbett for Negligent and Incompetence of Duty as Governor of the Citizens of the State of Pennsylvania

I, Peggy Jo Farr, a free citizens of the state of Pennsylvania, hereby request all elected representatives in the Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to bring impeachment proceedings against Thomas W. Corbett, the present Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, for his blatant, and criminally negligent and refusal to uphold the constitutional rights of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to pure water and for aiding and abetting felonious crimes against the people, livestock, wildlife, and natural resources of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by companies that are 'cash cows' and who do not care for our need as human beings the necessity of clean water to live a quality life.

Please see the widget at the bottom of this post to sign a petition to impeach Thomas W. Corbett for negligence and incompetence of duty as Governor of the citizens of the state of Pennsylvania.

For more information concerning the crisis and failures of the DEP (Department of Environmental Protection) and the Governor go to PCN channel (110 on Comcast) and read newspapers across the state.

The reasons for this posting are as follows:

1st.  On Thursday evening February 21, 2013 our water had a horrid chemical smell and taste.  My dad (He is 94) commented on this fact as he was taking his medicine.  We have lived in the house for 50 years and have NEVER had a horrid chemical smell or taste in the water before.

2nd. I, by accident, caught the excellent PCN coverage of the meetings being held in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania this week and became acutely aware of the crisis happening across our state concerning our drinking water and quality of life.

3rd.  When just and righteous people are not listened too, we all suffer.  We are suffering because people in positions of power and authority are not doing their jobs and in some cases do not even know HOW to do their jobs.

Please check out the issues and sign the petition to impeach Thomas W. Corbett.

Editing An Art Journal

One joy of art journaling is editing.  You can add and subtract to your pages as you go along.  I added gold trim, a button, and and some curling string. I gessoed a few pages to paint later and kept some lined pages for writing.

Core Exercises

Put your mat away and give your neck a rest. “Standing abs exercises work more muscles than crunches—and the more muscles we use, the more calories we burn,” says Sara Haley, creator of The Daily Sweat workout DVDs and a Reebok Global Master Trainer in Santa Monica, CA. While sit ups and crunches only work superficial surface muscles, standing moves strengthen deep core muscles that lead to a great six-pack.

Get off the floor and upgrade your core workout with these 13 standing core exercises. For maximum results and varying resistance, include body weight, medicine ball, dumbbell, cable, and kettlebell moves. (Search: Best kettlebell exercises)

1 teaspoon dried oregano
8 ounces baby portobello mushrooms, halved lengthwise

Whisk the harissa, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and oregano together in a medium bowl.

Add the halved mushrooms and toss well to coat. Marinate for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit or Preheat the grill, if grilling.

Thread the mushrooms onto pre-soaked bamboo skewers. Roast them in the oven for 10-12 minutes, or grill them, 5 minutes per side.

red wine and garlic mushrooms | drag it through the garden

Red Wine and
Garlic Mushrooms
Makes 4 Servings

2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup red wine
16 oz. mushrooms (I used cremini, but you can use whatever kind you want)
2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons chopped parsley

Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once butter is melted and begins to bubble, add in garlic, stirring frequently, until it turns just golden, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Stir in red wine and return mixture simmer.

Add in mushrooms and toss to coat with sauce. Cover and simmer on medium-low heat for 15 minutes. Remove lid, season with salt and pepper, and continue cooking on medium-low heat for an additional 5-8 minutes, until the mushrooms are cooked through and the bottoms are golden.

Drizzle with lemon juice and sprinkle parsley over the top.

Recently I had a need for physical therapy.  My left knee was swelling and I was in pain.  My doctor gave me a choice and I choose Laurel Highlands Health Center.  Even if your doctor doesn't give you a choice you still have the right to choose.

By far, it is the best choice I made.  My leg is strengthened, and my knee feels better, and I am able to walk freely again.  I am so appreciative of the rehabilitation and care I received from The Laurel Highlands Health Center.
