Shake The Winter Blues

A great way to shake the winter blues would be a trip to either or both the Carnegie or Phipps.  They have some great exhibits to check out.  Now would be an especially good time before a few of the exhibits leave in the next few weeks.  The Phipps Orchid and Tropical Bonsai Show will be here through March 13th.  The Carnegie has two shows leaving shortly one is The Art of Structure February 6, 2011 at The Heinz Architectural Center and André Kertész: On Reading February 13, 2011 in Works on Paper Gallery.

May The Road Rise Up To Meet You

May the road rise up to meet you,

may the wind be ever at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face

and the rain fall softly on your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.”

Thank You

Thank you to the Comcast Team Member who pushed me out of the snow this evening.  This damsel in distress greatly appreciated your help and smile!

Cherry Blossoms

Waiting for spring can be very difficult.  I thought looking at these beautiful white, pink, and red cherry blossoms might be a cheery idea!

Not bad for an amateur photographer.
The bottom photograph is one of my favorites.  Do you see the bumble bee?
I know the shot could be a little clearer.  I had just gotten a new camera and was working on using all the different adjustments, but considering the breeze that day,  I would say not bad at all.  Not a bad picture, not a bad picture at all.

Action For Animals Humane Society Fundraiser

On Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Latrobe Country Club, Action for Animals Humane Society will be holding its fifth annual fundraiser, Love is in the Air.  The annual event celebrates the bond between humans and animals.  This year's event is sponsored by Smail Automotive located in Hempfield Township.  The evening includes hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, and silent auction.  Love is in the Air begins at 6:00 pm.  Reservations begin at $50 dollars and books with availability.  For more information call 724-539-2544.  See, The Latrobe Bulletin, Monday's edition for more information about the speaker.

I was once given a dog under false pretenses.  It was a puppy mill dog.  Her name was Diva, a Puggle.  She was given to me after my cat Scarlet  had been poisoned.  I had been setup by some gentlemen, I use that term loosely, in the community I lived in, in Florida.  Apparently they are big movers and shakers.  They are still playing with my life, unfortunately.  I have lost a great deal; my reputation, career, friends, livelihood, and precious things that may not mean much to anyone else but they have sentimental value to me.

I am grieving.

I have been raped mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

I was video taped in my apartment and at work.  I was stalked and terrorized even by people I trusted and didn't know were part of 'The Players Club.'  I know what it is like to be abused.  No animal or human for that matter should be abused.

Photo

This is a photograph of Diva before I had to give her up (She was happy and loved.), about a year after the video you may have seen taken of me hitting her.  Don't believe everything you see or hear.  You may not know the whole story.  Girls (from SHU), Did you buy a ticket or a table?  What is happening to me could happen to you!

She was hyper the week I had to move out and I am sure she sensed that things were not right.  Who knows, she could have been drugged by the same people who poisoned my cat, video taped me, and are stalking me to this day. What is happening to me could happen to you!

I am sorry I moved in with a friend to help her out.  I did not know of her situation, nor of the company she was keeping.  Screwing a wise-guy or two can mess up innocent peoples lives.  What is happening to me could happen to you!

My life has been shot to hell, as well as, a few others.  My life has become a living nightmare and I can not seem to shake the bad guys.  They play with me like a cat getting too much cat-nip.  I have a new understanding of the term "Fat-cat."

My life can not be saved.  But, maybe you can save a dog or a cat's life.  Give to the Action for Animals Humane Society Fundraiser.  Here are the important details once again:

A Delightful Read

PJFARR
2010

Sy Montgomery once again takes writing about an animal to another level. Birdology is brilliantly written book about the personalities and unique lives of some special fowl.  The stories will haunt and enrich your life and remind you how important birds are to our history and ecosystem and how much they need our attention.

It is still very cold outside...brrr!

Be Careful!
It is very cold.
Even on a sunny day do not be deceived.
The wind is a factor.
I scrapped off the car this morning without wearing gloves and my fingers got a bit frost bitten.
I had pinning and burning sensations in all my digits, especially my thumbs and experienced pain while warming them up after I got in the car.
Wear hats, gloves, and scarves when going outside and do not let the little darlings out in extremely cold temperatures...this includes pets!

Winter Nights:Star Gazing

On clear cold winter nights one can gaze into the night sky and see the stars just a little more clearly then at any other time.  You can check out Star Finder by NASA to aid you in your search.  A great family activity...but bundle up in the winter...it is a bit nippy out their.

The following is from the NASA Hubblesite Gallery. Check it out sometime, you will be amazed!

Superb Masterpiece Theater: My Boy Jack

What an outstanding movie!  I am glad that the play became a movie. I am grateful that PBS aired the movie again in case you missed it the first go around.  David Haig, a consummate actor, wrote a play  in 1997 of Rudyard Kipling, and his grief for his son, John, who died in World War I.  Masterpiece Theater Sunday night, showed the movie and shared behind the production, moments with the actors.  It would make a great gift to someone and support PBS all at the same time.  Again, I hope you take the time to check it out.  Below is a teaser of the movie and a copy of the poem, My Boy Jack, by Kipling.

My Boy Jack
by Rudyard Kipling - Poem (1915-18)

‘Have you news of my boy Jack?’
Not this tide.
‘When d’you think that he’ll come back?’
Not with this wind blowing, and this tide.
‘Has anyone else had word of him?’

Not this tide.

For what is sunk will hardly swim,

Not with this wind blowing, and this tide.

‘Oh dear, what comfort can I find?’

None this tide

Nor any tide

Except he did not shame his kind –
Not even with that wind blowing and that tide

Then hold your head up all the more

This tide,

And every tide,

Because he was the son you bore
And gave to that wind blowing and that tide.

A Daily Devotional

Lover Of My Soul

When I see the winter turning into spring
It speaks to this heart of mine more than anything
Underneath a blanket of snow, cold and white
Something is stirring in the still of the night

And then the sun comes up, slowly with the dawn
This is the kind of feeling that I hang my hope upon
There is a love and beauty in all that I see
And no one, nobody is explaining You to me

And maybe my eyes can't see
But You are surrounding me
Here in the wind and rain

The things that I know
Tender and sweet and strong as my need
I know the voice, I know the touch
Lover of my soul

And when the evening comes, the sunlight faces to red
And time and time and time again I whisper in my head
"Give me strength, give me faith to fully believe
That the maker of this whole, wide world is a Father to me"

And maybe my eyes can't see
But You are surrounding me
Here in the wind and rain

The things that I know
Tender and sweet and strong as my need
I know the voice, I know the touch
Lover of my soul

I really enjoy this song.  It is on a CD; My Utmost For His Highest, inspired after Oswald Chambers.  Amy Grant sings "Lover of my Soul."  If you click the song title you can catch the song and other tracks from the CD.

There are many devotionals out there to choose from today.  Here is a web-site that will be of good inspiration to you, you may want to download it for your own use:  My Utmost For His Highest.  I am going to add it to my side bar.

Hope your 2011 is blessed.
